Basic 407 ETR Debts Can Be Included In Bankruptcy
For years, the laws regarding 407 ETR payments and bankruptcy have been confusing and constantly varying; however, one thing remained the same. If you were an individual who had outstanding 407 ETR payments in addition to having submitted a bankruptcy or consumer proposal, the 407 ETR thought it had the right to refuse the renewal of your license.
There is good news! This is actually not the case – the 407 ETR does NOT have permission to deny the renewal of your vehicle permit due to any outstanding debts. This means any individual who has declared bankruptcy, can in fact include these 407 ETR payments in their discharge and will not be denied renewal of his/her license-plate.
In fact, the 407 ETR issued a news release in November 2015, stating that:
“Where a customer has been discharged from bankruptcy and has pre-bankruptcy amounts in plate denial, 407 ETR will credit those amounts (plus interest and fees incurred on those amounts) upon receipt of a Notice of Bankruptcy, and Order of Discharge or Certificate of Discharge.”
In simpler terms, previous 407 ETR payments will be cleared for any individuals who have been approved for bankruptcy.
